Spin the Globe Playlist for 5 November 2004
Ancestors + Babukishan

Show Notes: Day of the Dead / Dia de los Muertos is a huge holiday in Mexico (Nov. 1 & 2). Mexicans (and increasingly others who find the holiday appealing) erect magical realist altars which symbolize the loving dialogue between death and life. It corresponds with other ancestor festivals, such as Bon Odori and the Celtic Samhain. Spin The Globe celebrates in our own way, with music about ancestors from all over the world.

Hour 2: live music and conversation with music designer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and author Babukishan, a descendant of India's world renowned Bauls.

Most of the music played on Spin the Globe is available at cdRoots.com or CD Universe or the calabash.
