2014-07-11 World Cup of World Music: Argentina vs. Brazil

Germany-v-Argentina-World-Cup-2014-Final-MatchCan the music of the two FIFA World Cup finalists reveal the winner of the championship game on Sunday? Listen to this show and find out. Alternating songs from Germany and Argentina, followed by other new releases and faves for the remainder of the show.

Bonus: If you start the show right at the opening whistle of the World Cup final and mute the TV sound, you’ll notice eerie correlations between the music and the action on the pitch (ala Dark Side of the Moon / Wizard of OZ).

2012-08-24 Global Tango

tango dancersThis show was big fun, as we explored the sounds of tango worldwide, from traditional sounds represented by Piazzolla and Gardel, to global and cutting-edge versions of the Argentine musical form. I wasn’t able to get the requested Yiddish tango into the show, but we sure heard an otherwise wide variety of tunes. Plus a few new releases and show previews near the end of the show.

Wonder if they had this much fun a couple weeks ago at the Tango at the Fountain dance here in Olympia?
